Our tilt-and-turn windows are designed to provide exceptional versatility and performance. Incorporating a high-performance dual hinge system, the window design can open into the room from either the side or the top, making it ideally suited to buildings with external shutters.
Our timber tilt-and-turn windows can support numerous sizes, including triple-glazed units. Coupled with a variety of paint, stain, and window furniture options, the window can be highly customised to meet precise project requirements. For maximum security, multipoint locking is distributed around the frame, and toughened glass can be specified to meet the demands of Part Q. Dual weather seals, discreetly positioned, provide excellent weather performance.
Period properties can opt for our Traditional tilt and turn, which has been adapted to remain in keeping with the original aesthetic of the property. Tilt – Rotating the handle by 90 degrees allows the window to tilt open for ventilation purposes. Turn – Rotating the handle by 180 degrees allows the window to turn inwards. This enables easy cleaning of the outside glass and frame.

Inward-opening timber windows are practical for ventilation and cleaning, especially for upper floors. They also provide a secure, weathertight seal when closed, enhancing energy efficiency and reducing heat loss
Yes, George Barnsdale’s tilt and turn windows are designed to meet modern safety standards, including secure locking mechanisms and robust hardware. The tilt feature also allows safe ventilation without compromising security.
Timber tilt and turn windows are typically more expensive than standard window styles due to their functionality, and quality materials. These windows allow you to tilt inward for ventilation and turn fully open for easier cleaning or emergency escape, making them highly versatile. The craftsmanship in producing durable timber frames and the advanced hardware required for the tilt-and-turn mechanism add to the overall cost.
Cleaning timber tilt and turn windows is simple due to their inward opening function, allowing easy access to both sides of the glass. Regular cleaning of the frames and glass and periodic checks on the hardware will ensure your timber tilt and turn windows remain spotless.
See our repairs and maintenance page for more information on keeping your products in top condition.
