Tilt & Slide Patio Doors | George Barnsdale

The perfect solution for your Juliet balcony

Timber tilt and slide patio doors offer outstanding flexibility, whilst giving you the ability to provide ventilation without having to slide the entire door open. This makes them the perfect solution for Juliet balconies, where ventilation and uninterrupted views are the main priorities.

Similar to the sliding door design, the timber tilt and sliding door incorporates innovative features to allow it to be operated with ease. This includes a specialist handle and low-resistance rollers. Rotating the specialist handle anti-clockwise by 90 degrees allows the top of the door panel to tilt inwards, providing an opening for ventilation. For security, the handle can be locked in this position for night-time use.

Tilt & Sliding Doors: Frequently Asked Questions

Tilt and slide patio doors are a versatile door system designed for modern living spaces. They combine the functionality of a traditional sliding door with the added benefit of a tilt function. This allows the door to tilt inward at the top, providing secure ventilation without fully opening the door.

Our doors provide excellent security with multi-point locking and advanced cylinder locks. We test all our doors to PAS-24 and Secured by Design.

Our Tilt and slide patio doors from George Barnsdale are designed with security in mind, offering advanced features to keep your home safe. These doors are crafted using premium timber and are fitted with multipoint locking systems to prevent forced entry.

We provide an extensive range of stain and paint colours for any taste or style. We also provide bespoke colour-matching services to ensure that we can replicate your favourite paint shades from leading manufacturers. Whether you need a classic finish or a bold statement, we will bring precision into your vision.

Yes, we make our doors available in single, double or triple glazing plus you can have optional integral blinds. The latest building regulations require the highest levels of thermal performance and often triple glazing is the only way to achieve this unless you opt for vacuum glass.

It’s important to keep on top of maintenance with our products. Start by cleaning the timber frame regularly with a soft cloth and mild soapy water to remove dirt and prevent grime build-up. Avoid using harsh chemicals that can damage the finish of the timber. Give special attention to the sliding tracks, as debris can cause interference in the smooth operation of the doors. Use a vacuum or a soft brush to clear the tracks, and apply a silicone-based lubricant periodically to keep the sliding mechanism running easily.

Consider applying varnish coats or repainting the surface if needed. Weather seals and gaskets should be in good condition to enable energy efficiency and protect against draughts. Finally, check the hardware parts for hinges, locks, and handles to make sure that they are in a good position, free from air leaks, and still functioning well.

Yes, tilt and slide doors are designed with safety in mind. They feature robust locking mechanisms and materials that provide excellent security against forced entry. The tilt function also allows for secure ventilation, as the door remains locked in place while tilted.

Yes, our timber tilt and slide doors are crafted using sustainably sourced timber, making them an eco-friendly choice. Also, their efficient design contributes to reducing your carbon footprint.

Yes, all George Barnsdale timber tilt and slide doors are backed by our guarantees. This covers the craftsmanship, materials, and performance, ensuring your peace of mind. Our guarantees reflect the rigorous testing and standards we adhere to during the manufacturing process.

One common issue with tilt and slide doors is difficulty in operation, often caused by debris or dirt accumulating in the sliding track. Over time, this can make the door harder to slide or tilt smoothly. Regular maintenance can prevent this problem. For persistent issues, it’s best to consult a professional or contact George Barnsdale’s team for advice and support.
