Sliding Patio Doors | Uk Supplier | George Barnsdale

Increased natural light and an unobstructed view

Timber sliding doors are a great choice if you want to make the most of your views into the garden or beyond. Large panes of glass give uninterrupted views and lots of natural light. Our timber sliding patio doors run on a high-performance rail system designed to ensure an easy glide. Weight is not a problem because the system is highly durable and also makes opening the doors effortless.

Sliding doors are beneficial when you don’t have space inside or outside for doors to open. The opening door slides behind the fixed panel making them ideal in kitchens, entrances and even bedrooms with Juliet balconies.

We offer several sliding patio door configurations to suit the layout of the room and the size of the reveal. All configurations allow for very large and heavy doors (up to 400kg in weight) to be specified without compromising the sliding performance. There are also secure night vents which leave a 10mm opening. This is ideal when used in a bedroom, for example, when you want nighttime ventilation.

Sliding Doors: Frequently Asked Questions

We offer a range of glazing options including triple glazing, which gives optimum thermal and acoustic performance. This means they are suitable for Passivhaus building standards.

We offer a range of standard paint colours or you can opt to have a colour matched to a leading manufacturer’s. There is also a range of stain options too.

Yes, our sliding patio doors are designed with the highest levels of security in mind. They meet the Secure by Design accreditation and have been thoroughly tested to PAS-24 standards, making sure they enforce protection over forced entry.

Our timber sliding patio doors have security features included such as cylinder locking, locking handles and multipoint espagnolette locking system. These work together to deliver resistance to tampering and break-ins, offering homeowners peace of mind without compromising on functionality.

Additional security is offered by the concealed, interlocking aluminium meeting rail, which also contributes to the doors’ exceptional weather performance.

Yes, you can fully customise your sliding patio doors to suit your specifications and requirements. At George Barnsdale, we offer a range of customisable options, such as types of timbers and finishes

You can also tailor the glazing options to enhance the energy efficiency, and performance or even include decorative glazing. You can also select from different configurations and styles, so your sliding patio doors perfectly complement your home’s design.

Yes, sliding patio doors do require some maintenance so they function smoothly and remain secure over time. Regular maintenance typically involves cleaning the tracks to prevent debris build-up, which can hinder the sliding mechanism.

Lubricating the rollers and hardware can also help maintain easy operation. It’s important to periodically inspect the seals and weather stripping to ensure they remain intact, as this helps with energy and preventing draughts.

While it is technically possible to install sliding patio doors as a DIY project, it is generally not recommended unless you have significant experience with door installations. Sliding doors require precise alignment and professional handling to ensure smooth operation, proper insulation, and long-term security.

Installation mistakes can lead to issues such as draughts, water leaks, or even compromised security. This is why we recommend making use of our professional fitting service when installing a set of George Barnsdale patio doors, to ensure you get the high performance and longevity that you desire from your new doors.
