On May 1st 2018, South Holland District Council hosted their annual jobs fair at the Castle Sports Complex in Spalding.
The Office for National Statistics recently announced that the UK unemployment rate dropped to a four-decade low of 4.3% and working in conjunction with The Department of Work and Pensions, the South Holland District Council hoped that this event would be another aid to local people to find new work and opportunities and continue the trend.
Around 50 Lincolnshire employers and training providers from the area exhibited at the event, which saw record numbers of attendees through the doors looking for jobs in South Holland.
With over 550 job seekers attending the event, George Barnsdale were keen to raise their profile as one of the main employers in South Holland and took the opportunity to discuss opportunities within the timber industry.
It was also a great event for them to talk with young job seekers about their new apprenticeship scheme that is due to be launched this year in accordance with Boston College.
George Barnsdale have been manufacturing timber windows and doors from their Lincolnshire based office in Donington since 1884 and currently employ approximately 100 staff and they are keen to continue providing jobs in South Holland for local residents.

The event aims to return even bigger and better in 2019 and George Barnsdale are hoping to be able to offer the apprenticeship scheme shortly.
