In this section of our newsletter, we wanted to bring you a quick Q&A with our approved partners who work with George Barnsdale to ensure that the installation process of your timber windows and doors is as simple and pain-free as possible.

This quarter we spoke with Excell timber windows who have been working with George Barnsdale for nearly 10 years. Excell is a family-run business started by Martin Serjeant back in 1991. Martin came from a carpentry background having worked for Everest Double Glazing as a window and conservatory surveyor for 6 years. Not long after he was joined by Julie Serjeant who became the companies secretary, and his stepson Sam as an apprentice Carpenter and Joiner.

Shortly after that, Excell made the decision to go back to its roots as Carpenters and Joiners and embarked on a journey of Heavy Oak frame restoration and construction, joining the Carpenters Fellowship where they were awarded Timber Framers of the year 2010 for their restoration of a 1600c Suffolk Farmhouse and new Oak Frame Lodge. This project led to them being approached to Project manage & construct a million-pound Architect designed Sips New build. During construction of this passive timber frame home build they looked for suppliers of British made timber windows and doors, it was at this point that they found George Barnsdale, after much research, they placed an order for windows and doors for the project and were so impressed with both the supply and the finished product that they started to use George Barnsdale for other new build, restoration and listed building projects.

Sam now a director of Excell, alongside Martin & Julie and with George Barnsdale as primary supplier started to concentrate on the window and door market, moving away from the construction of the whole property.

When we asked why they chose to partner with George Barnsdale their response was ‘George Barnsdale moved forward with the preferred partner scheme & invited Excell to join, there has been no looking back as George Barnsdale products and their professional staff are market leaders. Just look at the projects they have carried out! After 40 years in the industry, I can say this with absolute conviction this is the best product and service ever full stop! George Barnsdale partner coordinator and manager Paul Kitson and his professional team have been instrumental in the companies forward movement and investment, now with Tracy Pomfret and her team looking after marketing and social media at the George Barnsdale end and Julie Serjeant and Sophie Over at Excell end we are right there with the modern world’.

Excell are based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, and install all our windows and doors around that area.
