Despite having to close its factory due to the coronavirus, George Barnsdale is turning its attention to supporting a campaign to produce masks for the NHS. As part of its focus on research and development, the company has its own onsite centre and uses 3D printers to make prototypes. These printers have been redeployed this week and are producing parts for visors for frontline NHS staff and others working with the Covid-19 patients and the wider public.
Joining others as part of COVID-19 Volunteers UK’s ‘crowdcreate’ 3D printed visors campaign, the machines are working flat out. It isn’t as straight forward as it seems, there are naturally guidelines around hygiene and infection control and our team has worked hard to prevent contamination.
