George Barnsdale reinforce their position as leaders in energy efficiency in the timber window industry.
George Barnsdale & Sons continue to be proactive in researching thermal ratings for their windows and alongside the BFRC.
George Barnsdale & Sons have attained BFRC energy ratings on the Flush Casement, Inward Opening Tilt & Turn & the innovative Fully Reversible Pivot windows (see table).
The ratings give excellent performance of the frames, all attaining a U-value (U f ) of 1.4 W/m 2 K. This allows us to achieve very high performance without the need to use expensive and unattractive triple glazed units.
Using our argon filled glazing unit with warm edge spacer technology, we have attained B ratings for the flush casement and tilt & turn window and a C rating for the pivot window (due to the BFRC rating this has to be simulated with a fixed light – in reality there would only be 1 opening light and as a result it would achieve very high solar gain and a very high energy rating).
The energy ratings for the sliding sash range (box, spiral and spiral reversible) and storm proof casement range will soon be available. We are now also working on increasing our High Performance energy range to complement the C1E Stormproof casement, which is the first and still best performing timber window on the market.
