As part of an extensive home refurbishment programme, Mr and Mrs Briddon chose to replace a French doorset and all wooden windows in their home. Nestled in a Conservation Area in the London Borough of Lambeth, it was crucial that the replacement doorset and windows closely matched the original designs.
Replacement, rather than restoration, was key to this home refurbishment because the couple wanted a functional, comfortable family home which their existing single-glazed windows and French doors were unable to provide. They chose George Barnsdale to manufacture the products because of our ability to match authentic period detailing, including decorative glass, at no detriment to high performance. A local personal end-to-end service was provided by Timber Windows (UK), our Approved Partner for South London, which encompassed site measurement, design and installation.
In addition to the like-for-like replacement of a variety of flush casement and sliding sash windows and a French doorset, we manufactured a traditional-looking bifold door for the ground floor extension. Our Approved Partner, Timber Windows (UK), designed the bifold door to mimic that of the neighbouring French door and seamlessly connect the extended area to the garden.
