Project description

Fitzroy Place is located on the site of the former Middlesex Hospital in Fitzrovia, London. The development incorporates 235 select apartments in three residential blocks, two new office buildings and retail units, plus the restoration of the original building’s Nassau Street façade.

Fitzroy Place

Having previously worked with the principal contractor, Sir Robert McAlpine on the De Vere Gardens project, we were approached by them to quote for the supply of over 30 bespoke doorsets for the Fitzroy Place development.

The doors which we have supplied for this project have been manufactured from FSC® certified Red Grandis Hardwood and finished with a pure white paint coating. Red Grandis provides a stable and durable substrate and is supplied as a three ply laminated material for extra stability, making it an ideal timber for the manufacture of timber doors, especially in a public space.

The biggest challenge presented by this project was the manufacture of bespoke doorsets with a unique arch top. To ensure that the finished doors provided a flush fit and operated to the correct opening heights we had to work very closely with the contractors.

For those doors that have been incorporated in Nassau Street façade, we provided a 21mm astragal bar detail to help match the original aesthetics.
