Project description
Borough Market, London
Located in the London Borough of Southwark, on the site of medieval Winchester Palace, 16 Winchester Walk is a Victorian fruit warehouse building set in the heart of London’s famous Borough Market with timeless 1850s brick walls and spacious interior. It has been converted into beautiful loft style apartments, office space and a restaurant. George Barnsdale were asked by Capita Construction to design, manufacture and install windows and doors for this exciting project.
In response to stringent planning requirements, the flush casement windows and doorsets had to be sympathetic replacements. Incorporating modern stainless steel hardware gives a contemporary twist which fits with the modern warehouse living vibe. FSC certified Red Grandis timber was used and painted in bespoke RAL colours coupled with acoustic glazing units to give extremely high levels of thermal and acoustic performance. Our unique four stage paint process means these windows and doors will last at least 60 years with minimal maintenance and will not require re-painting for at least ten years.
